CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. January 30

On Saturday unexpectedly sitting out were Austin Reaves & Alondes Williams (Oklahoma) for covid protocols, Charlie Moore (DePaul) with an elbow injury, Bubba Parham (Georgia Tech) for personal reasons, Levi Stockard (VCU) in concussion protocol and Colby Jones (Xavier) due to covid protocols.

Returning to action included Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State), Sam Sessoms (Penn State), Jalen Coleman-Lands (Iowa State) and Cormac Ryan (Notre Dame).

Several players played after dealing with injuries in or since their last games, notably Jalen Carey & Jermaine Harris (Rhode Island), Justin Smith (Arkansas), KyKy Tandy (Xavier) & AJ Wilson (George Mason).

Bo Hodges (eligibility) and Christian David (knee) made their season debuts for Butler.

Suffering possible injuries were DaJuan Gordon (Kansas State) who left the game in the first half with a foot injury, KeShawn Curry (VCU) who limped off and returned to the bench with a walking boot, and Darius Days (LSU) went to the locker room with a knee injury and did not return.

Isaiah Wong (Miami) left the game near the end of the second half with a sprained ankle, Jaylin Williams (Arkansas) was limited after suffering a knee bruise, Yves Pons (Tennessee) turned an ankle late, Jules Bernard (UCLA) missed a good deal of time with a knee bruise but returned, and Xavier DuSell (Wyoming) sustained a back injury in the second half of the game.

In injury updates, Greg Williams (St John’s) is questionable for Sunday, Isaac Bonton (Washington State) appears to have made the trip for the game Sunday, Josh Nickelberry (Louisville) is probable for Monday, Bubba Parham (Georgia Tech) will travel for Monday’s game, and Ian DuBose (Wake Forest) is a gametime decision for Tuesday.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Fri. January 29

On Friday CJ Fredrick did not play for Iowa as he deals with a lower leg injury, Keegan Murray got the start.

In injury updates, Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State) is expected to be available Saturday while teammate Ferron Flavors sounds questionable, and Jordan Bruner (Alabama) is still 2-3 weeks away from returning.

Sasha Stefanovic (Purdue) remains out the next two games. For Sunday games Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State) will be out again, Zane Meeks (Nevada) is expected to return to action, but Bryce Hamilton (UNLV) is questionable.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Thur. January 28

On Thursday unexpectedly sitting out were Quentin Grimes (Houston) with an ankle injury, Darius McNeill (SMU) with plantar fasciitis, Oumar Ballo (Gonzaga) with a thumb injury, Aguek Arop (vertigo) & Keith Dinwiddie (hip) for San Diego State and Isaiah Marin (New Mexico). Gabe Brown (Michigan State) sat out as expected due to covid.

Anthony Holland (Fresno State) returned from concussion protocol, Deon Stroud (Fresno State) returned in the second half after sitting out last game, Joshua Langford (Michigan State) played after having covid, and Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona) played after an ankle injury last game.

Sitting out again included Ziaire Williams, Daejon Davis, & Bryce Wills (Stanford), Richard Washington (San Jose State) and Francisco Farabello (TCU).

In injury updates, Devon Daniels (NC State) is out for the season after tearing his ACL Wednesday night. Ian DuBose (Wake Forest) says he is back after being out for covid reasons, Jalen Harris (Georgetown) remains away from the team on personal leave, and Miami announced that Matt Cross is no longer with the program. Justin Smith (Arkansas) did not practice Thursday, and Bourama Sidibe (Syracuse) was limited in practice.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Wed. January 27

On Wednesday unexpectedly sitting out were Elijah Olaniyi (Miami) with a shoulder injury, Cormac Ryan (Notre Dame) with a foot injury, Isaac Bonton (Washington State) had the flu, and Sam Sessoms (Penn State) was out with an ankle injury.

Notably remaining out included Anthony Polite (Florida State), Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State), Greg Williams (St John’s), Tyrie Jackson (East Carolina) and Jared Bynum (Providence).

Players returning to action after missing time were Fatts Russell (Rhode Island), Scottie Lewis (Florida), Anthony Walker (Miami), Dylan Disu (Vanderbilt), Myles Dread (Penn State), Jalyn McCreary (South Carolina), JJ Miles (East Carolina), and Nijel Pack (Kansas State).

Suffering possible injuries on Wednesday included Jalen Carey (Rhode Island) who went out in the first half with a possible ankle injury, and teammate Jermaine Harris was limited with a foot injury he has dealt with in the past. Devon Daniels (NC State) left the game in the second half with a non-contact left leg injury and was seen on crutches.

In injury updates, Bennedict Mathurin (Arizona) is questionable for Thursday, and it was reported that Stanford’s Bryce Wills, Daejon Davis & Ziaire Williams will not travel to Arizona. CJ Fredrick (Iowa) is questionable for Friday and Kerr Kriisa (Arizona) has been cleared to practice again after a concussion. Bryce Thompson (Kansas) could return mid-February after his finger surgery, and Bryan Antoine (Villanova) is not ready to make his season debut.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Tues. January 26

On Tuesday Courtney Ramey & Jericho Sims were unavailable for Texas, and Jack Forrest was out for St Joseph’s. Remaining out were Ryan Daly (St Joe’s), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Brock Cunningham (Texas), and Justin Powell (Auburn).

Returning to action included Greg Brown & Kai Jones (Texas), Jaden Springer (Tennessee), James Rojas (Alabama), Anthony Longpre (St Joe’s) and William Douglas (SMU).

In injury updates, Gabe Brown (Michigan State) tested positive for covid, but teammate Joshua Langford may be available Thursday. Alanzo Frink is out for the season for medical reasons, but South Carolina teammate Jalyn McCreary should be available Wednesday. Kenny Foster (Wyoming) is out indefinitely with a knee injury.

Scottie Lewis (Florida) is questionable Wednesday, while Greg Williams (St John’s) and Myles Dread (Penn State) are gametime decisions. Andre Jackson (UConn) may be able to return Sunday or next week. Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree (Villanova) had surgery for a stress fracture and remains out, and Ian DuBose (Wake Forest) will be evaluated Wed. to see if he may be able to return.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Mon. January 25

On Monday Cade Cunningham sat out again but Oklahoma State teammate Rondel Walker returned to action. Iowa State was missing four starters, Jalen Coleman-Lands, Javan Johnson, Solomon Young & Tre Jackson, to covid protocols. Bryce Hamilton was back in action as he started for UNLV.

In in-game injuries, Arizona’s Bennedict Mathurin suffered a sprained ankle on Monday night and was not able to return, but x-rays were negative.

In injury (& other) updates, Tyrece Radford (Virginia Tech) was suspended indefinitely due to criminal charges, James Rojas (Alabama) is questionable for Tuesday, and Santiago Vescovi is fine but Jaden Springer remains questionable for Tennessee. Jared Bynum (Providence), Terrence Clarke (Kentucky), Jimmy Sotos (Ohio State) and Justin Powell (Auburn) all sound like they will continue to be out. JaKobe Coles (Butler) shared he will miss the rest of the season with a meniscus injury that he suffered several weeks ago.

  • Justin Powell, Auburn – still day to day in concussion protocol, once cleared may take two weeks to get him back to action

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sun. January 24

On Sunday Fatts Russell was out with a core muscle injury for Rhode Island, Anthony Walker & Earl Timberlake were out with injuries for Miami, and East Carolina was missing numerous players for covid reasons, most notably JJ Miles & Tyrie Jackson.

Remaining sidelined were Trey Galloway for Indiana, Zane Meeks for Nevada, and Chris Lykes for Miami.

Matt Mitchell returned for San Diego State sooner than expected from a knee injury and Tristen Newton & Noah Farrakhan returned to action for East Carolina after missing time in early January before the team paused activities.

Tre Mitchell (UMass) injured his right shoulder late in the second half, was looked at by trainers, and ended up going to the locker room. Kenny Foster (Wyoming) appeared to bang knees with another player in the second half and did not return to the game.

In injury updates, Ryan Daly (St Joseph’s) will have his cast removed and his hand re-evaluated in the coming days.

CBB Injuries & Updates from Sat. January 23

On Saturday some of those not able to play included Cade Cunningham & Rondel Walker (Oklahoma State), Ziaire Williams and Daejon Davis (Stanford, both were reported to be out before their previous game was postponed), Dylan Disu & Quentin Millora-Brown (Vanderbilt), Chris Duarte & LJ Figueroa (Oregon, reported ahead of time), James Rojas (Alabama), Alex O’Connell (Creighton) & Akok Akok (UConn).

Notable players returning to action on Saturday were Matt Bradley (Cal), Manny Bates (NC State), Colin Castleton (Florida), CJ Walker (Ohio State), Andre Gustavson (Richmond), Darius Perry (UCF) Jalen Terry (Oregon), Ryan Rapp (Washington State) and Spencer Jones (Stanford). Tyson Jolly (SMU) made his season debut after dealing with personal issues.

Suffering in-game injuries were MJ Walker (Florida State) who left the game in the second half after taking an elbow to the head, AJ Wilson (George Mason) left the game with an apparent elbow injury after taking a hit in a collision, and McKinley Wright (Colorado) left the game in the first half with an apparent leg injury but returned to start the second half.

In injury updates, Mikael Jantunen (Utah) is expected to play Sunday after suffering a scratched cornea last game. Anthony Polite (Florida State, DNP today) may be out a week or two with a strained shoulder. Nijel Pack (Kansas State) is expected to be available for his next game on a limited basis, Cade Cunningham (Oklahoma State) is questionable for Monday, and Dylan Disu (Vanderbilt) should be available Wednesday.

On Friday Sasha Stefanovic (11.1 ppg) sat out for Purdue after testing positive for Covid. Jaden Ivey started for Purdue with Stefanovic out. Keith Dinwiddie returned to action from a hip injury for San Diego State, and Daniel Foster (Nevada) & Graham Ike (Wyoming) made their season debuts after being out with injuries.

In injury updates, Manny Bates (NC State) is questionable for Saturday, while South Carolina’s Alanzo Frink & Jalyn McCreary remain out. Darius Perry (UCF) was officially cleared and will play Saturday, while for Florida Colin Castleton is a GTD and Scottie Lewis sounds questionable in protocols. CBB Injuries & Updates from Thur. January 21

On Thursday Ziaire Williams & Daejon Davis were reportedly going to be out for Stanford before their game was postponed. Trey Galloway (Indiana) did not play due to a back issue and Bryce Hamilton (UNLV, 20.3 ppg) did not play with an ankle injury. Myles Dread (Penn State) did not play after an apparent shoulder injury last game, and Matt Bradley (Cal) warmed up but sat out again.

Returning to action after missing time were Damion Baugh (Memphis), Jalen Graham (Arizona State) and DJ Rodman (Washington State). Craig Porter & Clarence Jackson (Wichita State) also played after dealing with injuries.

In in-game injuries, Richard Washington (San Jose State, 22.2 ppg) left in the first half after taking a shot to the head and did not appear to return. DeAndre Williams (Memphis) left the game in the 2nd half with a towel over his face but in postgame was said to be fine (no concussion, nothing broken) after taking an elbow to the nose. CJ Fredrick (Iowa) started as he deals with a lower leg injury, but the team announced at halftime that he would not return to the game. Richard Harward (BYU) left the game with an apparent left hand injury but returned to the game. Mikael Jantunen (Utah) was already wearing a mask for a previous injury and took a shot to the head in the second half and was taken to the hospital to be evaluated.

For injury updates, Jalen Terry will play for Oregon Saturday, but Chris Duarte and LJ Figueroa will be out due to covid protocols, also for Oregon, Will Richardson is not ready to return. Nijel Pack (Kansas State) is doubtful Saturday, but Darius Perry (UCF) should be able to play. CJ Walker (Ohio State) may be able to return Saturday.
