These updates are a mix of inactives, players who returned to action, QB starters, and some positional summaries. Look for a separate post later today (Sunday) with in-depth Saturday injury news.

CFB Injuries & Updates – Thur-Fri. December 3-4

On Thursday UCF QB McKenzie Milton and Temple QB Anthony Russo announced their intentions to transfer. LSU QB TJ Finley will start this weekend. Auburn RB DJ Williams will not be available this weekend, and Texas RB Keaontay Ingram has reportedly opted out of the rest of the season. On Thursday night Air Force RB Kadin Remsberg returned to action, but Utah State RB Devonta’e Henry-Cole was described as a late scratch.

Friday brought news that Syracuse QB Rex Culpepper is expected to start with QB JaCobian Morgan expected to remain out, and Western Kentucky WRs Xavier Lane and Dayton Wade have been ruled out for the Sunday game.

CFB Injuries & Updates – Wed. December 2

On Wednesday Oregon State QB Tristan Gebbia was announced as out this weekend, and Liberty QB Malik Willis has reportedly tested positive for Covid. Phil Jurkovec (Boston College) sounds on track to play, while Grant Gunnell (Arizona) and Desmond Trotter (South Alabama) are question marks.

For RBs, Greg Bell (SDSU) and Xazavian Valladay (Wyoming) both seem questionable heading into the weekend. South Carolina WR Shi Smith is progressing toward being ready to play on Saturday.

CFB Injuries & Updates – Tues. December 1

On Tuesday Arkansas RB Rakeem Boyd opted out of the rest of the season (NFL), as did Florida State RB La’Damian Webb. Tulsa QB Zach Smith should start this week, but New Mexico will likely go with third-string QB Connor Genal.

Penn State RB Devyn Ford should be back this week, as should Oregon WR Mycah Pittman. South Carolina WR Shi Smith is progressing through concussion protocol as he practiced Tuesday in a non-contact jersey, and Washington State RB Max Borghi has returned to practice.

CFB Injuries & Updates – Mon. November 30

On Monday Indiana QB Michael Penix was announced to be done for the season with a torn ACL. CMU QB Daniel Richardson will not play this week, Washington State QB Jayden de Laura is expected to play this Sunday, and Oregon State QB Tristan Gebbia is dealing with a hamstring injury. UCLA RB Demetric Felton is practicing Monday after a late injury last weekend, and Kentucky RB Chris Rodriguez is back on the depth chart after being out for covid reasons.

In case you missed it on Sunday, LSU WR Terrace Marshall opted out of the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL draft, and South Carolina WR Shi Smith is still in concussion protocol and is questionable this week.

CFB Injuries & Updates – Thur-Fri. November 26-27

On Thursday night there were several surprise absences in the New Mexico-Utah State game, as RB Jaylen Warren (Utah State) and WR Jordan Kress (New Mexico) were unavailable. QB Andrew Peasley got the start for Utah State, and QB Trae Hall started for New Mexico (but went down with an injury in the second half) as Tevaka Tuioti was again unavailable. In non-Thursday night game news, Oklahoma State reserve QB Shane Illingworth was reported to have tested positive for covid.

Not much news Friday outside of game action, but Utah State RB Jaylen Warren was reported to have left the team (did not play Thursday), joining the seeming exodus Utah State has experienced recently.

In Wednesday news Minnesota WR Rashod Bateman opted out of the rest of the season to prepare for the NFL draft. RB Alex Fontenot (Colorado) may miss the whole season while RB Devyn Ford’s (Penn State) status for this weekend is unclear. In WR news, KD Nixon (Colorado) sounds hopeful to play this weekend, but Clemson’s Joseph Ngata had abdominal surgery and will miss the rest of the regular season.

In Tuesday news Utah QB Cameron Rising was shared to be out for the season after a shoulder injury early in the game Saturday night. South Carolina and Kansas State are among teams with announced QB battles. Georgia Southern RB Wesley Kennedy was suspended indefinitely after a recent arrest and South Florida RB Johnny Ford is no longer part of the team. South Carolina WR Shi Smith is doubtful in concussion protocol and Rice WR Austin Trammell will be a gametime decision.
