CFB Injuries & Updates – Thur. January 7
In injury updates, Alabama WR Jaylen Waddle has been practicing and was described as a likely game-day decision. Ohio State QB Justin Fields says he has been dealing with soreness and Thursday was the first day he returned to practice, but that he’ll be good to play in the championship game. Ole Miss RB Jerrion Ealy tweeted that he had surgery after suffering a leg injury in December.
Declaring for the NFL Draft were Texas A&M QB Kellen Mond, Louisiana RB Trey Ragas, Oklahoma RB Rhamondre Stevenson, Miami TE Brevin Jordan, Ball State WR Antwan Davis and Notre Dame TE Tommy Tremble.
Notable players entering the transfer portal were Miami QB N’Kosi Perry and Georgia Southern RB Matt Laroche. Arizona had 3 WRs withdraw their names from the portal.
Announcing they would return next season included Nevada QB Carson Strong, Liberty RB Joshua Mack, Texas WR Joshua Moore, NC State WR Emeka Emezie, and Penn State WR Jahan Dotson.
Announcing transfer destinations were QB Hendon Hooker (Virginia Tech to Tennessee), QB Chance Lovertich (South Alabama to Miss State), QB Ben Bryant (Cincinnati to Eastern Michigan), WR Tyrell Shavers (Miss State to San Diego State) and RB Amare Jones (Tulane to Georgia Southern).

Announcing transfer destinations were RB Kenneth Walker (Wake Forest to Michigan State), QB Jake Bentley (Utah to South Alabama), and RB Chase Hayden (East Carolina to Illinois). But announcing they would return next season included Purdue WR Jackson Anthrop and Illinois TE Daniel Barker.
Declaring for the NFL Draft were Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence and Notre Dame QB Ian Book.

The first news of Wednesday was significant as TCU WR JD Spielman was confirmed to have received a waiver to be immediately eligible this season. Other highlights were Auburn RB DJ Matthews returning to practice and the news that Miami RB Robert Burns isn’t at full-speed.
In Thursday news Virginia named Brennan Armstrong their starting QB, and several WRs were announced to be out for the season with injuries – Dominick Blaylock (Georgia) and Camron Buckley (Texas A&M)
